Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into NBA stats lately, trying to figure out who the best shooter in the league is right now. It’s a tough question, and honestly, there’s no single right answer, but I wanted to share my process and what I found.
My Shooting Investigation
First, I started by just watching games. Lots of them. You get a good feel for who’s hot and who’s not just by observing, but that’s obviously super subjective.
Then, I decided I needed some actual numbers. So I headed over to some basketball statistics websites.

I started with the basics:
- Points Per Game (PPG): Seems obvious, right? More points, better shooter… usually.
- Field Goal Percentage (FG%): What percentage of their shots actually go in?
- Three-Point Percentage (3P%): Same as above, but just for threes.
- Free Throw Percentage (FT%): How reliable are they from the line? A good indicator of pure shooting ability.
I looked at players who consistently ranked high in these categories. Obvious names kept popping up, like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. But,I quickly realized these basic stats weren’t telling the whole story.
So I dug deeper.I started looking at things like:
- Shot Charts: Where on the court are they most effective?
- Shot Difficulty: Are they mostly taking wide-open shots, or are they contested?
- Clutch Shooting: How do they perform under pressure, in the final minutes of a close game?
This is where things got really * players, their percentages might dip a bit when the pressure is *,they seem to thrive in those moments.
My Conclusion(For Now)
After all this digging, I don’t think I can give you a definitive “best shooter.” It depends on what you value. But I have made a conclusion for myself.
Based on my little adventure into the stats, and considering consistency, difficulty, and clutch performance, My personal view is that Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter right now.

This whole thing has been a blast. It’s made watching the games even more fun, knowing I’m looking at things with a little more insight. I’m definitely going to keep tracking this throughout the season and see how things change!
