Okay, folks, let’s dive into something I’ve been digging into lately: has any NBA team ever pulled off a completely clean sweep through the entire playoffs?
I started out just kind of idly wondering. You know, those random sports thoughts that pop into your head. I was watching some highlights, and it got me thinking, “Has anyone ever just dominated the whole way through?”
So, first, I just did a simple search. Nothing fancy, just typed it straight in.

The initial results were interesting, lots of articles about teams that had great playoff runs, near sweeps, stuff like that, I read something about a team that went 16-1,That’s pretty darn close to perfection, but still, not a true sweep.
I wanted the full story, though. Not just “close calls,” but the real deal.
I started digging through NBA history . I was clicking through different sites .
- Checked through lots playoff brackets from different years.
- Looked at old championship summaries.
- Even poked around some fan forums, which, well, you know how those can be… a lot of opinions.
My Findings (so far!)
After I went all around,Here’s the simple truth: Nope, no team has ever swept the entire NBA playoffs. It hasn’t happened.
It’s kind of crazy, right? You’d think with all the amazing teams over the years, someone would have managed it. But it makes sense. The playoffs are a grind. Every team is good. Every series is a battle. To go undefeated the whole way? That’s a mountain that no one’s climbed yet.
I’m still going to keep this little project going in the back of my mind. Maybe I’ll put together a list of the “closest sweeps” or something. It’s a fun little rabbit hole to explore!
