Alright, guys, so the other day I was itching for some good old baseball action, but, you know, without actually having to, like, run and stuff. So I fired up Baseball 9, and figured I’d finally master this Home Run Derby thing. Here’s how it went down, from a total noob to, well, a slightly-less-noob.
Getting Started
First things first, I opened the game. Duh. Then I navigated to the main menu. You’ll see a bunch of options, but the one we want is, surprisingly, “Home Run Derby”. I tapped on that.
Picking My Slugger
Next up, you gotta choose your batter. Now, I’m no expert, but I figured a guy with a high “Contact” and “Power” stat was the way to go. I went with some dude named, uh, “Big McLargeHuge” (I’m making that up, I can’t remember his name). Just pick someone who looks like they can crush the ball.

The Actual Derby
- Timing is EVERYTHING: This is where I messed up, like, a million times. You’ll see a little circle that shrinks as the pitch comes in. You wanna swing when that circle is at its smallest, right over the ball. Too early or too late, and you’ll be popping out or whiffing like a chump.
- Aim for the Sweet Spot: There’s this, like, sweet spot in the hitting zone. I think it’s kinda in the middle-ish area. Try to get the ball to land there when you swing. It seemed to help me get more distance.
- Use Items (If You Want): You have got items, there is an icon in the corner, and if you have items you can try to click * I am poor so I am not use this.
- Don’t Get Discouraged: Seriously, my first few rounds were pathetic. I think I hit, like, two home runs total. But I kept practicing, and slowly but surely, I started getting the hang of it.
My Pro-ish Tips (After, Like, 20 Minutes)
Okay, I’m still not gonna be breaking any records, but here’s what I figured out:
- Focus on that shrinking circle. Don’t get distracted by anything else.
- Don’t swing at every pitch. If it looks way outside, just let it go.
- Try different batters. Some might just “feel” better to you.
- Most importantly, just have fun! It’s a game, after all.
So yeah, that’s my incredibly detailed and super-expert guide to playing Home Run Derby in Baseball 9. Go forth and mash some dingers!
