Okay, so I was watching TV the other day, and they were talking about the Detroit Grand Prix. I was like, “Wait, is that Formula 1?” I’ve been trying to get into F1, you know, with the Netflix show and all that, and I got kinda confused.
So, I grabbed my phone and started, you guessed it, Googling. I typed in “Detroit Grand Prix F1” and started digging.
My Confusing Search Journey
At first, I was getting all these results about the Detroit Grand Prix, but it wasn’t super clear if it was part of the official F1 World Championship.
- I saw a bunch of articles about the race’s history.
- I found the official website for the Detroit Grand Prix.
- I browsed some videos of past races.
It all looked very professional and exciting, cars zooming around and all, but the connection to F1, was not clear.
Figuring It Out
Then, I finally realized, by reading, The Detroit Grand Prix is actually an IndyCar race, not a Formula 1 race. IndyCar is another open-wheel racing series, it’s also really big, very popular in America. It is like the main competitor.
I learned that Formula 1 did race in Detroit years ago, but it was on a different track. Currently, there is only one F1 race in the US, that’s the one in Austin, Texas. I also checked the official F1 website to see their race schedule and, yup, Detroit wasn’t on it.
So, to make it simple, I created a little note for myself:
- Detroit Grand Prix = IndyCar Series
- Formula 1 = Races in other cities, like Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas.
So yeah, that’s what I did. Basically, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole online, but it was simple. Now, I finally clear about it.
