Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get better at drawing, and since I’m a huge NFL fan, I thought, why not combine the two? I decided to learn how to draw NFL team logos. Here’s how I went about it.
Find reference images
First things first, I gathered a bunch of reference images. You can find anything online these days. I just googled each team’s logo and saved the images to my computer. It’s good to have a few different versions, like the main logo, maybe a wordmark, and any alternate logos they might have.
Start with simple shapes
Next, I started by breaking down the logos into basic shapes. A lot of them have circles, ovals, or shield-like shapes as a base. I practiced drawing those shapes first, just to get a feel for the overall form of the logo. I use a pencil when I sketch, so it is easy to erase.

Add details gradually
Once I had the basic shapes down, I started adding in the details. This is where it gets a little tricky, but also fun. I paid attention to things like the thickness of lines, the angles, and any unique features of each logo. Some are definitely more complex than others. Like, the Patriots’ logo is way harder than the Browns’!
Practice makes perfect
I’m not gonna lie, it took a lot of practice. I probably drew each logo a bunch of times before I was happy with it. But that’s okay! It’s all part of the learning process. I just kept at it, and eventually, I started to see improvement.
Different techniques
I also experimented with different techniques. I tried using tracing paper for some of the more complicated logos, just to get a better sense of the proportions. And I played around with shading and coloring, too. A lot of free material online and it is easy to get lost. But I think you can draw it instantly if you try hard.
Perimeter and Area
During my practice, I also learned the definitions of perimeter and area. For example, the perimeter of the circle and the area of the circle. It helps me to draw the logo better.
Enjoy the process
The most important thing is to have fun with it. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about enjoying the process and learning something new. And now, I can proudly say that I can draw all 32 NFL team logos! It’s a pretty cool feeling.
So, if you’re an NFL fan and you’re looking for a new creative outlet, give this a try! It’s a fun and rewarding way to show your team spirit.
