So, I’ve always been a huge baseball fan, and I’ve been to a ton of games over the years. One thing I’ve learned is that where you sit can totally make or break your experience. I remember this one time I went to a game and ended up way out in left field. The tickets were super cheap, which was great, but I felt so disconnected from the action! I couldn’t see any of the details, and it was tough to follow the game. I spent most of the time just watching the Jumbotron, which kind of defeated the purpose of being there in person.
That’s why I started experimenting with different seating areas. I figured there had to be a sweet spot, right? So I bought some tickets on the first base, and I stood to look over the first base. That was good! I found the first base had a good angle to watch.
Then I tried sitting a little further back from the first baseline. I bought those tickets, sat down, and watched the players warm up. These seats were a bit more expensive, but the view was way better. I could see the whole infield, and it was easier to follow the pitches and the plays at the plate. It felt like I was right in the middle of everything.

After that, I decided to splurge a little and got some seats right behind the home plate, you know, the “scout seats.” Man, those were pricey! But I have to admit, the view was incredible. I felt like I could see every little detail, from the pitcher’s grip on the ball to the catcher’s signals. It was like watching the game in high definition.
But here’s the thing: while those seats were awesome, they weren’t necessarily my favorite. It was almost too close, you know? I couldn’t see the outfield area, and I found myself missing some of the bigger plays. Plus, those seats were so expensive that I felt like I had to pay super close attention the whole time to get my money’s worth. It was kind of stressful!
My next experiment was the upper deck behind home plate. I’d always avoided those seats because I thought they’d be too far away. But let me tell you, I was wrong! I bought the tickets, climbed up to the upper deck, and settled into my seat. The view from up there was amazing! I could see the entire field, and it was so much easier to follow the flow of the game. And because it was the upper deck, the price was way more reasonable.
My Findings
So, after all that experimenting, here’s what I’ve figured out:
- Behind Home Plate (Lower Level): Amazing view of the pitching and catching, but super expensive and you miss some of the outfield action.
- First or Third Baseline (Lower Level): Great view of the infield, and you feel close to the action, but can be a bit pricey depending on how close you are.
- Behind Home Plate (Upper Deck): The best overall view, in my opinion. You can see everything, and the price is usually pretty good. But it is higher than the first level.
- Outfield: Fun if you want to catch a home run, but not great for actually following the game. And it is hard to see the details.
Honestly, I think the upper deck behind home plate is the sweet spot. You get the best of both worlds: an awesome view and a decent price. But hey, that’s just my experience. Everyone’s different, so you might have to do some experimenting of your own to find your perfect seat! You also need to watch the players’ equipment, like gloves, bats and other personnel authorized by the league. Just find your favorite place to enjoy the game!
