Well, let me tell ya about them Razorback baseball games, y’know, the ones them youngsters play. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I hear things and see things, and I can tell ya a thing or two.
So, this year, 2024, they had themselves a pretty good season, them Razorbacks did. Won a whole bunch of games, like 44 of ’em, but lost 16 too. That’s what I heard, at least. Can’t keep track of all them numbers myself, gets my head spinnin’.

They even got to host one of them regionals, big deal, that is. All them fancy college teams comin’ to Arkansas. We had Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, all them good-for-nothin’… just kiddin’, they are good players. The Razorbacks, they were one of the top dogs, number 5 they said. Folks were real excited, y’know, thinkin’ they might go all the way.
But baseball, it ain’t like makin’ biscuits, things don’t always turn out the way you want. They lost that last game in the regional to some team called SEMO. Six to three, the score was. Heard it on the radio, some fella yelling about it. Folks were disappointed, sure, but hey, that’s baseball for ya. Can’t win ‘em all, I always say.
I remember hearin’ about some other games too. They played that Kansas State team, lost by a hair, seven to six. Close game, that one. Then there was that Mississippi State game, won that one, seven to five. And another one against Southeast Missouri State, won that too, seventeen to nine, that was a real barn burner I heard. Seems like they had their ups and downs, just like the rest of us.
Now, about that score thing you asked about… Well, it depends on which game you’re talkin’ about, see? They play a whole bunch of games, all season long. Sometimes they win big, sometimes they lose close, sometimes they get their butts whooped. You gotta be more specific, like who they played and when.
Like that last game, that regional one, it was six to three, SEMO over the Razorbacks. That one sticks in my craw, I tell ya. But there were other games, like I said. If you wanna know a particular score, you gotta tell me which game you’re talkin’ about. Can’t just say “what’s the score?” That ain’t how it works.
- They lost to SEMO 6-3 in the regional final.
- They lost a close one to Kansas State 7-6.
- They beat Mississippi State 7-5.
- They beat Southeast Missouri State 17-9 earlier.
Heck, I heard they even had a coach somethin’ named Sam Purcell who won his 50th somethin’ somethin’. They sure do like their numbers don’t they? That’s what the radio said anyways. Sounded important, all that cheering.

So, there you have it. That’s the lowdown on them Razorbacks, as best as I can tell ya. They had a good year, even if they didn’t go all the way. And if you wanna know a score, you gotta be more specific, ya hear? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
Anyway, baseball season is over now. Them boys are probably home, eatin’ their mama’s cookin’ and restin’ up. They played hard, that’s for sure. And they’ll be back at it next year, tryin’ to win it all again. That’s just how it is with baseball, and with life, I reckon. You win some, you lose some, and you keep on goin’.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now you go on and have yourself a good day.
