Alright, so y’all wanna know if this NBA YoungBoy fella is Jamaican, huh? Well, lemme tell ya what I know, the way I know how to tell it. Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I ain’t got none of that. Just plain talk, like we’re sittin’ on the porch sippin’ sweet tea.
Now, from what I hear, this NBA YoungBoy, or YoungBoy Never Broke Again, whatever they call him these days, he’s an American rapper. Yep, American. Born and raised in the States, in a place called Baton Rouge, Louisiana, if I remember right. That ain’t nowhere near Jamaica, honey. That’s way over there in America.
I heard tell he was born in 1999. Just a young’un, really. Barely a sprout when he started this rappin’ stuff. Seems like yesterday he was a little bitty thing, and now he’s all over the TV and the radio. Time sure does fly, doesn’t it?
They say his real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But I reckon he just goes by YoungBoy or NBA YoungBoy mostly. Easier to remember, I guess. And that NBA part? It ain’t got nothin’ to do with basketball, y’know. It stands for Never Broke Again. That’s what they tell me, anyways.

I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t listen to that kind of music much myself. Too much noise for my old ears. I prefer somethin’ a little slower, somethin’ with a good story. But the young folks, they seem to like him. Can’t fault them for it, I guess. Everyone’s got their own taste in music, just like they got their own taste in food. You like what you like, and that’s all there is to it.
But this whole Jamaican thing… I don’t know where folks get these ideas. Maybe he sounds a little like a Jamaican when he raps? I wouldn’t know. Or maybe someone just made it up, and it spread like wildfire. You know how stories go, they start small and then get bigger and bigger until they ain’t nothin’ like the truth anymore.
Anyway, the facts are the facts. He’s an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Not Jamaican. Plain and simple. Now, can we talk about somethin’ else? My feet are tired from standin’ here, and this tea’s gettin’ cold. Let’s go inside where it’s cooler.
So next time somebody asks you “is nba youngboy jamaican?” you can tell ’em, “No sir, no ma’am. He’s from Louisiana, USA.” And you can tell ’em an old lady told you so, if you want. I don’t mind. Just as long as folks get the truth straight.
