Well now, if ya been keepin’ up with the Aggies, ya probably heard ’bout poor Braden Montgomery. That young feller, he was all set to be somethin’ big, they say he’s gonna be a top-five pick in the MLB draft next month. But then, somethin’ awful happened during a game agin’ Oregon, and it put a real damper on his season. It was that first game of the Super Regional, and it all started when he was tryin’ to slide into home plate. Poor boy musta hit the dirt wrong, ‘cause next thing ya know, he’s layin’ there like a ragdoll, holdin’ his leg in pain.
It happened back on June 8th, in the bottom of the first inning. Braden was comin’ home, ready to score, but his slide didn’t go the way he planned. He landed awkward, and from the looks of it, it was his ankle or somethin’ in that lower leg that gave out on him. They say he tried to get back up on his own, but I reckon it was too much for him. The coach, Jim Schlossnagle, mentioned it could be a season-ending injury, and well, it’s been tough for the whole team ever since. That young man had real potential, and now it looks like he might miss the rest of the season.
When Braden went down, you could see the concern on his face. It wasn’t a simple twist or sprain – they had to put an aircast around his leg before he was even helped off the field. It was real hard to watch, and ya could see that the whole team was shaken by it. He’s been one of the bright spots for the Aggies this year, and for him to go out like that, well, it just ain’t right.

Now, Braden Montgomery might not be the only player hurt this season. Not too long after that, another Aggies star, Jace LaViolette, also went down with a hamstring injury during their win over Kentucky. This happened in the College World Series, back on June 19th. The Aggies managed to pull out a 5-1 win, but losing LaViolette in the sixth inning made it a lot harder for them. With both of these fellers hurt, the Aggies are gonna have to dig deep if they wanna keep fightin’ for the championship.
The injury to Braden Montgomery really set the tone for the rest of the season. It’s always a tough pill to swallow when your best players can’t be out there with ya. But the Aggies, they ain’t the type to give up easily. Even with these injuries, they still gotta keep pushin’. There’s a lot of talent left on that team, and they’re gonna have to come together like never before if they want to make it far this year.
It’s just the way of sports, I reckon. Injuries happen, sometimes outta nowhere, and they can really change the course of a season. Braden Montgomery’s injury might’ve been a big blow, but he’s a fighter. He’ll come back from this, and we’ll be seein’ more of him down the road, that’s for sure. As for the Aggies, they gotta pull together and keep playin’ with heart. The road ahead’s gonna be tough, but if anyone can handle it, it’s them. Time will tell, but I’m hopin’ they can pull through this season with some glory, despite the setbacks.
