Well, let me tell ya, back in 2016-17, the Golden State Warriors were somethin’ else! They had a mighty fine team, better than any folks could’ve imagined, and boy, did they show it on the court. Folks said they was the best team ever, and I reckon they wasn’t far wrong, given how they played that season. Lemme tell you a bit about who was on that team, in case ya wanna know.
So, first up, you got Stephen Curry. Now, this young fella, he’s got skills like you wouldn’t believe. Born on March 14, 1988, and standin’ at 6 feet 3 inches, that boy could shoot the basketball like no one else. They say he was the point guard, and boy, he sure ran the show. Curry could make those long shots from way beyond the three-point line, and the crowd just went wild every time he let one fly!
Then there’s Klay Thompson, born on February 8, 1990. Now, this boy’s a shooter too, but he’s a different kind. He’s the kind that doesn’t miss when it matters. Klay’s about 6 feet 6 inches tall, and that makes him a mighty big shooting guard. When the Warriors needed a basket, you could count on Klay to knock one down from just about anywhere on the floor. He and Curry together made a pair like no other, puttin’ on a show that had folks talkin’ for years.

And I gotta tell ya about Kevin Durant. Born on September 29, 1988, this fella was the small forward, standin’ at 6 feet 10 inches tall. Now, Kevin, he’s a big boy, but he’s also got that finesse. He could shoot from long range, post up down low, and defend just as good as anybody. That season, Durant was somethin’ special, and let’s not forget, he was a big part of why the Warriors took it all the way. He was a key player in them playoffs, no doubt about it.
Now, there’s more to the team than just those big names. Let’s not forget about Draymond Green. Born March 4, 1990, and standin’ at 6 feet 6 inches, he was the heart and soul of the Warriors. A powerful forward, Draymond could do it all. He’d block shots, dish out assists, and he could score when needed. But it wasn’t just the points he’d get, it was the way he’d get the team hyped up, you know? A real motivator, that one.
And of course, you can’t forget about the likes of Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, and the rest of the crew. They all had their role, and they all did it mighty well. Now, I’m tellin’ ya, even though they wasn’t always in the spotlight, they were just as important as the big stars. Every one of ’em knew how to play their part, whether it was defending, setting screens, or just makin’ sure the ball was in the right hands at the right time.
Then, let’s not overlook some of the bench players who helped out too. Folks like Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee, and Ian Clark. Now, they might not have been out there every minute, but when they did step on the court, they sure made a difference. McGee with his dunks, Pachulia with his tough play down low, and Clark, well, he could shoot when called upon.
That season, the Warriors finished strong with an amazing regular-season record. They went on to have a flawless playoff run, goin’ 16-1 and takin’ home that championship. Now, I ain’t sayin’ it was all smooth sailin’, but they sure did show up when it mattered most. And that right there is what makes the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors one of the best teams to ever play the game of basketball.
So, if you ever hear someone talkin’ about that season, you can just nod and know that you’re talkin’ about a group of folks who put on a show like no other. They were unstoppable, and that’s somethin’ folks won’t forget anytime soon.
