Alright, listen up, honey. We’re gonna talk ’bout this fella, Dillon Lewis, and baseball draft and all that. Don’t know much ’bout this sports stuff, but lemme tell ya what I heard.
So, this Dillon fella, plays outfield for some fancy school, Queens University of Charlotte, somethin’ like that. Kid’s got dreams, they say, big baseball dreams. Wanna get drafted, ya know? Like, play with the big fellas.
And guess what? He did it! That’s right, honey, this boy got picked! The New York Yankees, heard of ’em? Big team, real big. They took Dillon in the 13th round of somethin’ called the MLB June Amateur Draft. 2024, that was.

- Drafted
- New York Yankees
- 13th round

- MLB June Amateur Draft
Now, 13th round, ain’t that somethin’? Must be a lot of fellas tryin’ to get in, huh? They say he was the 391st pick, somethin’ like that. Means a lot of boys before him, but he still got in! That’s what matters, right? Gettin’ your chance.
Heard tell they pick all sorts of young fellas in this draft. Pitchers and whatnots. Yankees even picked some other pitcher first, Ben Hess, or somethin’. And another one, Bryce Cunningham, got a lotta money just for gettin’ picked! Millions! Imagine that, honey, millions for playin’ ball!
This Dillon fella, he ain’t got that kinda money, I reckon. 13th round ain’t the same as first, you know. But hey, he’s in! He’s got his foot in the door, that’s what I say. Now he gotta work hard, show ’em what he’s made of.
It reminds me of that fella, what’s his name… from Cleveland, way back when. He got drafted too, in the first round, back in ’88. Got a nice chunk of change, that boy did. But Dillon, he’s gotta start from the bottom, build his way up. Just like life, honey. Nothin’ comes easy.
Fifteen years, they said. Flash forward fifteen years and Dillon’s gettin’ his chance. Took him a while, but he got there. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, ain’t it?
Queens University, that’s where he was, right? Charlotte, North Carolina. Bet his folks are proud as peacocks. Their boy made it to the big leagues, kinda. Still gotta prove himself, of course, but he’s got a shot. That’s all anyone needs, a chance.
So, there ya have it. Dillon Lewis, baseball draft, Yankees. Hope the boy does well. Hope he remembers where he came from, you know? Don’t let the fame and money go to his head.
Alright, honey, I gotta go. Got things to do. But remember, work hard, chase your dreams. Just like Dillon.
