Okay, so I wanted to display my signed baseball, and I snagged one of those Rawlings cases. It looked pretty straightforward, but honestly, I fumbled around with it for a good few minutes before I figured it out. So, I thought I’d share my little adventure, just in case anyone else finds themselves scratching their heads.
The Initial Confusion
First, I grabbed the case and, naturally, I tried to just pull it apart. Nope. Didn’t budge. I flipped it over, looked at the bottom, the top, the sides… nothing obvious. It’s all smooth, clear plastic. I started to think maybe I needed a tool or something, which seemed ridiculous.
Figuring It Out
Then, I noticed something subtle. One of the corners, at the base, looked a tiny bit different. Instead of a sharp, 90-degree angle, it was slightly rounded. I pressed on that corner, and what do you know, it flexed a little!

The “Aha!” Moment
So, here’s the trick: You gotta push inwards, not upwards, on that rounded corner. Like you’re trying to dent it in. And simultaneously, you lift the top part of the case on the opposite corner. It’s a push-and-lift motion, but on opposite corners. The rounded one needs the push, and the diagonally across from it needs the lift.
- Find the rounded corner at the base.
- Push inward on that rounded corner.
- Simultaneously, lift the top part of the case from the opposite corner.
Getting It Open
Once I did that, the top popped right off. It wasn’t super obvious, and there weren’t any instructions, so I felt pretty smart for figuring it out, haha. It’s one of those things that’s super simple once you know the trick, but totally confusing beforehand.
Putting It Back Together
Putting it back together is just the reverse. Align the top and bottom, making sure the rounded corner is matched up, and just press down until it clicks. Easy peasy.
I am very happy that put my baseball inside the case to show off.
