Okay, so the other day I was watching some old NBA highlights, and it got me thinking – what’s the absolute lowest score a team has ever put up in a game? I mean, we’ve all seen some terrible offensive performances, but I wanted to know the actual record.
So, I fired up my trusty laptop and started digging. First,I simply searched”what’s the absolute lowest score a team has ever put up in a game?”,and found some interesting * out, it’s not as straightforward as you might think!
The Search Begins
I started with a simple Google search. Just typed in “lowest NBA score ever,” and boom, tons of results. Most of them pointed to the same game:

- Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat, on April 10, 1999. The Bulls only scored 49 points.
I read the Bulls only shot 23.4% from the field, and 6 of their players didn’t even score.I thought that must have been painful to watch.
But I wasn’t finished just yet! I’m a curious kind of person. So I kept googling.
Pre-Shot Clock Era
I found that before the shot clock, scores were even lower. Teams could just hold onto the ball forever, basically running out the clock without even trying to score.
So there you have it. The absolute lowest? 19-18 back in 1950. But in the modern NBA, with the shot clock keeping things moving, it’s that Bulls-Heat game with a measly 49 points. I guess it’s pretty safe to say we won’t be seeing scores that low again anytime soon, hopefully!
