Ok, here is my sharing today:
Today, I wanna talk about whether metal bats should be banned in youth baseball. It’s a hot potato, and I’ve been digging into it.
First off, I started by looking up what’s been going on with this debate online. Found some interesting stuff. Apparently, the New York City Council already banned these bats in high school games like ten years ago. That’s something, right?

- Checked out some articles about why people are worried.
- Read that these metal bats can make the ball go way faster, and that could mean more injuries for the kids.
Then, I dug a little deeper. It seems like this isn’t just a New York thing. There’s a lawmaker in Pennsylvania who’s also trying to get these bats out of Little League. And it’s not just about safety, some folks say metal bats mess with the game, making it less about skill and more about the bat.
I also looked into what the pros use. Guess what? No metal bats in the major or minor leagues. They say it’s because metal bats can overpower a player’s natural talent. That made me think.
So, after all this, I started thinking about my own experiences playing baseball as a kid and watching my nephew play now. I remember some close calls, and I can’t help but wonder if things would be different with wooden bats.
To wrap it up, from what I’ve gathered and thought about, it seems like there’s a good case for banning metal bats in youth baseball. It’s about keeping the kids safe and keeping the game fair.
My two cents?
I think it’s worth considering a switch back to wooden bats. It might make things a bit safer and put the focus back on the kids’ skills. What do you all think?
