Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again! Today, I was sitting around, scrolling through some sports news, and a question popped into my head: who’s the youngest driver to ever race in Formula 1? I mean, these guys are out there, driving at crazy speeds, and I’m always amazed by their skill and bravery. So, I decided to do a little digging to find out.
First, I hopped on to good old Google and typed in “youngest F1 driver ever”. The first few results were pretty clear: Max Verstappen is the record holder. Apparently, he made his debut at the Australian Grand Prix back in 2015, driving for Toro Rosso, which doesn’t even exist anymore.
But here’s the kicker: the dude was only 17 years, 5 months, and 15 days old at the time! Can you believe that? I was still struggling to parallel park at that age, and this guy was racing against the best drivers in the world. That’s insane!

I kept reading and found out that the next youngest driver was Lance Stroll, who debuted at 18 years, 4 months, and 26 days old. That’s almost a full year older than Max! So, Max really shattered the record.
- But then, curiosity got the best of me again. Who is the youngest driver racing right now?
- I did another quick search and found out it’s Oscar Piastri. This young gun races for McLaren and was born in 2001, making him just 21 years old in 2023.
- And apparently, he is one of only three current drivers who were born in this century.
Wait, there’s more!
I stumbled upon some news about a guy named Ollie Bearman. He is only 19 years old and just secured a full-time seat in F1 for 2025 with the Haas team. This kid impressed everyone when he filled in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari in Saudi Arabia on short notice. Talk about seizing the opportunity!
Out of curiosity, I also checked who are the oldest drivers currently on the grid. Turns out, it’s Fernando Alonso, at a whopping 42 years of age. And Lewis Hamilton is the second oldest at 37. They’re like the wise old masters of the sport!
So, there you have it! That’s how I spent my afternoon – diving into the world of Formula 1 and its youngest and oldest stars. It’s pretty cool to see the mix of young talent and experienced veterans battling it out on the track. It really makes you appreciate the diversity and the incredible stories within the sport.
Anyway, that’s all for today’s little adventure. Hope you found it as interesting as I did. Until next time, keep those engines revving!
