Alright, listen up, y’all. You wanna know how many days ’til that baseball thing starts, right? The openin’ day, they call it. Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t that hard to figure out, even for an old gal like me.
I heard them fellas on the TV talkin’ ’bout it. Said somethin’ ’bout the Dodgers and the Padres, them fancy city teams, they already played over in some place called Korea. Yeah, Korea! Can you believe it? They went all the way over there to play ball. But that ain’t the real openin’ day, no sirree. That was just a warm-up, like gettin’ the oven hot before you bake a pie.
The real openin’ day, the one where everybody starts playin’, that’s on Thursday, March 28th. Mark it on your calendar, if ya still use one of them things. I just tie a knot in my apron string for every day, that’s how I keep track. So, from today, let’s see… Today’s the… uh… well, never you mind what day it is. The point is, it’s comin’ up soon. Not too many more knots to tie.
They said somethin’ ’bout all 30 teams playin’ on that day. Thirty teams! That’s a whole lotta ball players, I tell ya. I don’t know how they keep ’em all straight. Back in my day, we just had one team, and that was enough for us. We’d all gather ’round the radio, listenin’ to the game, and cheerin’ ’til our throats were sore. Now they got all these fancy TVs and whatnot. Too much fuss if you ask me.
The TV fellas also said somethin’ ’bout the season endin’ in September. September! That’s a long ways away. They play ball for a long, long time these days. Must be tough on them boys, runnin’ around all that time. Hope they get plenty of water and snacks.
They also talked about some important dates like when the Dodgers and Padres played in Seoul on March 20th and 21st. I guess those were just some special games. But, like I said, the big day for everyone is Thursday, March 28th.
- So, to recap:
- Dodgers and Padres played in Korea already, but that don’t count.
- Real openin’ day is Thursday, March 28th.
- All 30 teams play that day.
- Season ends in September.
Now, you might be wonderin’, how long is one of them baseball games? Well, they said it’s usually nine innings. Nine! That seems like a lot to me. But I guess them fellas are used to it. They run around, hit the ball, catch the ball, and do it all over again, nine times. Must be good exercise, at least.
Anyways, that’s all I know ’bout this openin’ day baseball thing. I ain’t no expert, just tellin’ ya what I heard. So, go on now, get ready for the game. Get your snacks, get your drinks, and get ready to cheer. And don’t forget to mark that date on your calendar: Thursday, March 28th. That’s when the fun begins.
And if you ask me, baseball season is always a good time. It brings folks together, you know? Even if you don’t know all the rules, it’s still fun to watch. Just sittin’ there, enjoyin’ the sunshine, and cheerin’ for your team. That’s what it’s all about. So, don’t worry too much ’bout how many days are left. Just know that it’s comin’, and it’s gonna be a good time.
And one more thing, they also said something about a “dramatic spring training”. Sounded like a lot of hooey to me. Spring is spring, ain’t nothin’ dramatic about it. But these city folk, they like to make a big deal out of everything. Just get on with the game, that’s what I say.
Now, go on, get outta here. You got your answer, ain’t ya? Go on and enjoy the baseball season. And don’t forget to tell your friends: openin’ day is Thursday, March 28th! Don’t wanna miss it!
