Alright, so, let’s jaw about this Elly De La Cruz fella in that there “The Show 23” game. Folks keep buzzin’ ’bout him, so I figured, why not take a gander myself? Now, I ain’t no spring chicken, and I sure don’t know much ’bout these fancy video games, but I can tell ya what I heard and what I reckon it all means.
First off, they tell me this young’un got called up to the big leagues, that’s the MLB, back in June of last year. Seems like yesterday, but time flies like a bat outta heck, don’t it? They say he was only 21, just a baby practically! And tall as a beanpole, 6 foot 5 they say. That’s taller than my corn stalks in July! He plays shortstop, which I guess is important. Folks seem to get all worked up about it.
Now, in this here “The Show 23” game, they got this fella Elly De La Cruz as a player you can use. They give him a number, see, like a score. It’s called “OVR” and they say his is 78. I ain’t got a clue what that means, but I reckon it means he’s pretty good, maybe not the best, but good enough to get folks talkin’. They even got somethin’ called “True Overall” and “Meta Overall.” Lordy, these young folks and their fancy words. It’s all Greek to me, I tell ya.
- They say you can see all his details on the card, like how fast he runs, how hard he hits, and all that jazz. Sounds like a whole lot of fuss to me, but I guess it matters to them gamers.
- And they keep updatin’ it, too! Like, if he has a good week in real life, they make him better in the game. Makes sense, I suppose. If you’re good, you’re good, no matter if it’s on the field or on that there… Playstation thingamajig.
- I heard tell they even got special things called “quirks” and “captain” stuff. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds like somethin’ my chickens do when they get spooked. But I figure it makes him special in the game, gives him some kinda edge.
So, what’s all the hubbub about? Well, I reckon it’s ’cause this Elly fella is excitin’. He’s young, he’s tall, and he’s got that somethin’ special that folks like to see. He’s like a bolt of lightnin’ in a summer storm, fast and powerful. And in the game, they try to capture that, let you feel what it’s like to play as him. It’s like livin’ another life, I guess, but without all the hard work of hoein’ the fields and milkin’ the cows.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t understand half of it. But I see the way folks get excited, the way they talk about him, and I know it’s somethin’ special. It’s like watchin’ a good horse race, or seein’ a prize-winning pumpkin at the county fair. It gives folks somethin’ to cheer for, somethin’ to talk about. And in this day and age, with all the troubles in the world, I reckon that’s a good thing.
So, if you’re into this “The Show 23” game, I guess Elly De La Cruz is your man. He’s the young gun, the one to watch. And even if you don’t know a joystick from a hoe handle, like me, you can still appreciate the excitement. ‘Cause at the end of the day, it’s all about havin’ a little fun, ain’t it? And maybe, just maybe, this young fella will bring a little bit of that fun to the world.
Anyways, that’s what I make of it all. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. They’re probably burnt to a crisp by now with all this talkin’ I’ve been doin’. You youngsters and your games… always somethin’ new to fuss about.
