Well, I don’t know much about these fancy games, but I heard some folks talkin’ about the Athletics and the Braves playin’. Sounded like a big deal, so I figured I’d try to make sense of it for ya.
Now, they got these fellas, the Braves, and they say they’re favorites. Favorites, that means folks think they’re gonna win, see? Like when you bet on which rooster will crow first in the mornin’, some are just louder and more likely to win, that’s your favorite.
They throw around numbers like “-130” and “-147”. Don’t ask me what that means exactly, sounds like some kinda code. But I reckon the bigger the number, the more sure they are about the Braves winnin’. Kinda like when the price of eggs goes up, you know somethin’s up, probably gonna be harder to get ’em.

- One fella, Chris Sale, he’s gonna be throwin’ the ball for the Braves.
- And for the Athletics, it’s Aaron Brooks.
They call it “pitchin’”, I just hope they don’t hit each other with that hard ball. Sounds dangerous.
They also talk about “over/under 8 runs”. Now, I ain’t too sure what a “run” is in this game. Is it like when the chickens get loose and you gotta run after ’em? Maybe. But they’re bettin’ on whether there will be more or less than 8 of these “runs”. Gamblin’ folks, always bettin’ on somethin’.
Some folks who know more than me, they got their “predictions”. They think the Braves are gonna win. One fella even said they’re 63% sure. Well, that’s better than nothin’, I guess. But you know, even the best rooster can have an off day.
Then there’s this Max Schuemann fella for the Athletics. They say he hit the ball four times last game. Sounds like he’s a good hitter. Maybe he can help the Athletics win, even if they ain’t the favorites. You always gotta root for the underdog, that’s what I say.
They’re playin’ at somethin’ called “Truist Park.” Sounds fancy. Probably got more seats than my whole church. And they’re playin’ more than once, looks like. Friday, Saturday, Sunday… these fellas must really like hittin’ that ball.
Another thing they mentioned, the Braves are favored “-250” on Sunday. That must mean they’re really sure they’re gonna win that day. But like I said, anything can happen. That’s why they play the game, ain’t it?

So, if you’re gonna bet on this game, sounds like the Braves are the safe bet. But don’t come cryin’ to me if they lose! I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard. And remember, it’s just a game. Ain’t nothin’ more important than family and good health. And maybe a good piece of pie.
Now, I gotta go feed the chickens. They’re probably wonderin’ where their dinner is.
