Oh, that David Beckham fella, you know, the one with the fancy kicks? People seem to like keeping bits and bobs of his stuff. Like, pictures and shirts with his scribbles on ’em. I don’t get it much, but I reckon it’s like how folks keep old teacups from their grannies. Sentimental, they call it.
Seems like this Beckham fella got famous kickin’ a ball around. Folks went wild, started sticking his posters up everywhere. Same as them pop singers, but with shorts and mud. My nephew, he had a wall full of ’em. Drove his mum mad, all that sticky tape.
- People like gettin’ his stuff signed. Makes it special, they say. Like a hen laying a golden egg, I suppose.
- He was good at kickin’, apparently. Made the ball swerve and whatnot. Not sure how he did it, must be some trick. Always seemed a bit fancy to me.
Some company, Pani-something, they sell his scribbles on things. Balls, shirts, pictures. Fancy prices, too, I bet. Reckon it’s for them rich folk with nothin’ better to spend their money on. Still, keeps folks in jobs, I guess.

You can find his stuff on the internet, too. Not sure how it gets there, magic maybe. Seems like people are always sellin’ and buyin’ his things. Must be like a big jumble sale. Never been much for rummagin’, myself. Too much dust and bother.
They say it’s all “official” and “authenticated.” Means it’s real, I reckon. Not like them knock-off handbags you see at the market. Still, who’s to say for sure? Just gotta trust ’em, I suppose. Like trusting the milkman to bring you fresh milk, even though you don’t see the cow.
Seems like this Beckham fella is more than just a ball kicker, though. People talk about him like he’s some kind of star. Always in the papers and on the telly. Handsome fella, I’ll give him that. But I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Just a man kickin’ a ball, innit?
Reckon people like to hold onto things. Reminds them of times gone by, maybe. Like a snapshot of a memory. And if that memory involves a fella kickin’ a ball, well, who am I to judge? Each to their own, I always say.
Still, all that money on signed pictures and shirts? Seems a waste to me. Could buy a lot of tea and biscuits with that kind of money. But then again, I’m just an old woman who likes a good cuppa. What do I know about fancy sports stuff?
So, if you like this Beckham fella and want to keep a piece of his kickin’ days, go right ahead. Get your signed shirt or picture. Stick it on your wall and smile. It’s your money, after all. And who knows, maybe one day it’ll be worth a pretty penny. Like them old teacups I was talkin’ about.
