Okay, here’s my blog post about checking if Brock Lesnar was ever in the NFL, written in that down-to-earth, personal-journey style:
So, the other day, I was watching some old wrestling highlights, and Brock Lesnar’s name came up. The guy’s a beast, right? Absolute monster. It got me thinking, with that kind of size and power, did he ever try his hand at pro football? I mean, it seems like a natural fit.
My Deep Dive

First, I hit up the usual spots. I opened a new incognito window and started with the basics.
I typed in “Brock Lesnar NFL” and started looking at it.
Turns out, yeah, he did give it a shot! It wasn’t some long, storied career, but he definitely spent some time trying to make it in the NFL.
The Minnesota Vikings Experiment
The main thing that popped up was his stint with the Minnesota Vikings. This was back in 2004, after he’d already made a huge name for himself in professional wrestling.
I found out that he played in a few preseason games. I even dug up some old forum posts where people were debating his performance. Some folks were saying he showed potential, others were saying he was too raw and didn’t have the right technique. Classic internet arguing, you know?
- Position: I figured he was a defensive lineman. Makes sense, right? Big guy, built for knocking people over.
- Preseason Hype: Apparently, there was a decent amount of buzz around him at the time. People were curious to see if this wrestling superstar could actually make the transition to football.
- Ultimately Cut: Sadly for him, he ultimately did get cut before the regular season started.
Why Didn’t It Work Out?
I kept, and there were a few things that might of cause some problems.
One that I can think of is he was already in his late 20s when he tried out for the Vikings. In NFL terms, that’s not exactly young, especially for someone trying to learn a whole new sport at the highest level. There were also mentions of an injury from a motorcycle accident that might have hampered his training.
I guess it just goes to show, even for someone as physically gifted as Brock Lesnar, making it in the NFL is incredibly tough. Different skill sets, different demands. Still, it’s a cool little “what if” story in the career of a truly unique athlete.
