Okay, so the other day I was watching the game and got to thinking, “How much dough do these NFL offensive coordinators actually pull in?” I mean, these guys are calling the plays, designing the offense, basically the brains behind the scoring. So, I decided to do some digging.
First, I started by just hitting up some general searches. Nothing fancy, just typing in stuff like “NFL offensive coordinator salary”. The initial results were pretty broad, giving me a general idea. Most sites were saying it’s around a million bucks a year. Not bad, right?
But, I wanted to go a little deeper. I knew there had to be more to it than just a flat million. So, I started looking at factors that might change that number.

- Experience: This seemed like a no-brainer. Obviously, a coordinator who’s been around the block a few times, proven themselves, is gonna command more than a rookie.
- Team Success: This makes sense too. If a team’s constantly winning, making the playoffs, the offensive coordinator is probably doing something right, and they’re gonna get paid for it.
- Team Budget: I figured some teams just have more money to throw around. Bigger market teams, maybe those with super successful owners, probably have more wiggle room in the salary department.
Diving into specific examples.
After getting that general sense, I started trying to find examples of specific coordinators and their salaries, which takes more * part was tougher. Teams don’t exactly advertise this information. What I did find were mostly articles and forum discussions, some were talking about top-tier offensive coordinators easily making those “seven-figure paychecks”.
It became clear that while the average might hover around a million, the range is probably pretty wide. A newbie coordinator on a smaller market team might be making significantly less, while a Super Bowl-winning coordinator could be making a good chunk more.
So, while I couldn’t pin down an exact number for every coordinator, I got a pretty good sense of the ballpark. It’s definitely a lucrative gig, and it makes sense given the pressure and importance of the role. I’m going to keep my eyes open for more specific numbers whenever they pop up. It’s always interesting to see how the money side of the NFL works!
