Okay, so the other day, I was watching my nephew’s high school football game. It got me thinking, just how long is halftime at these things? I mean, it’s gotta be enough time for the players to catch their breath, and for me to grab another hotdog, right?
So, I did a little digging. I started by, you know, just kinda observing. I timed the halftime with my phone’s stopwatch, and it seemed a little bit longer than others I have seen.
My investigation process
- First I just simply used my phone stopwatch.
- Then when I got home, I got on the internet.
- Finally, I went searching and reading some offical websites.
Turns out, most high school games have a halftime that’s right around 15 minutes. Not too long, not too short. It is a good break time.

It makes sense. Gives the players and coaches some time to talk strategy, make adjustments, and, well, rest! And for the rest of us, it is just enough time to hit the concession stand or the restroom. It is a win-win, that I can say.
