So, I wanted to get into boxing, right? I started by watching those free boxing workout videos online. These were great, man, they got me moving and all.
I realized I gotta learn how to actually throw a punch. Not just flailing my arms around, you know? So I did some more digging.
I signed up at this local gym, it had a boxing ring and everything. It was kinda intimidating at first, all these guys were way ahead of me. But the trainers were cool, they showed me the basics.

- Stance
- Footwork
- Jab
- Cross
- Hook
- Uppercut
Man, it was a lot to take in! But I kept at it. I practiced my stance in front of the mirror, shadow boxed in my room, and hit the heavy bag at the gym.
I started with the jab, a quick, straight punch with my lead hand. Then the cross, a powerful punch with my rear hand. We did drills, over and over. Jab-cross, jab-jab-cross. It was all about getting the form right, the power comes later, they said.
Next up were hooks and uppercuts. These were trickier, needed more body rotation. I watched the other guys, tried to copy them. It was tough, my arms were sore, my legs were tired.
Sparring was a whole other level. Getting hit was a wake-up call! But it showed me where I was weak, what I needed to work on. I got better, slowly but surely. More confident with my punches, moving around the ring, dodging.
It’s not just about punching, I found out. It’s about strategy, about reading your opponent, about being in shape to go the distance. It’s a mental game as much as a physical one.
Keep at it.
It’s been a while now, and I’m still learning, still improving. It’s a journey, you know? But it’s worth it. I feel stronger, fitter, more focused. Boxing, it’s not just a workout, it’s a discipline. It changes you, for the better.

I even managed to participate in some local competitions and even though I haven’t won one yet, I’m still very happy with my performance.
