Alright, so you wanna know if that Marcus Freeman fella ever played in the NFL, huh? Well, lemme tell ya what I heard. This ain’t no fancy talk, just plain speakin’ like it is.
The Beginnin’ and Draft Day
See, this Marcus fella, he played football real good in college, at Ohio State, I think it was. Big strong boy, they said. Folks got all excited when he got drafted by them Chicago Bears in 2009. Fifth round, that’s what I heard. Sounded pretty good, ya know, gettin’ picked and all.

Team Hoppin’ but No Playin’
But here’s the thing, he never actually played a real game in the NFL. Can ya believe it? Drafted and all, but never got on the field when it mattered. He was with the Bears, then he went to the Buffalo Bills, and then to the Houston Texans. Jumped around more than a flea on a hot skillet, that boy did.
Heart Trouble, Poor Thing
- Now, some folks say he was a linebacker. Tough position, gotta be strong as an ox.
- But I also heard tell he was a tight end. Catchin’ the ball and all that.
Either way, he never got to show what he could do. Why? Well, the story goes he had some heart trouble. Big heart, they said, but not in a good way. Doctors told him he couldn’t play no more. Imagine that, workin’ your whole life for somethin’, and then poof, it’s gone. Just like that.
Another Marcus Freeman?
Now, hold on a minute, ’cause there’s another fella named Marcus Freeman. This other one, he was a tight end too. Born back in ’83, they say. He signed with the Carolina Panthers as a free agent, whatever that means. But he didn’t make it big in the NFL either. Maybe there’s somethin’ about that name, Marcus Freeman, and the NFL. Just bad luck, I guess.

Practice Squad and Scouting Stuff
This first Marcus fella, the one drafted by the Bears, he was on somethin’ called the practice squad for a while. That’s like practicin’ but not playin’ in the real games. He was with the Bills and the Texans on that practice squad, and even with the Indianapolis Colts, I think. He never got to play on gameday, though. Then, I heard he was at somethin’ called the NFL Scouting Combine. Don’t ask me what that is, sounds fancy. But it didn’t lead to him coachin’ in the NFL or nothin’. Instead he went back to his old college and started coachin’ there. Then he coached linebackers at some other schools, Kent State and Purdue.
So, Did He Play or Not?
So, to answer your question, that Marcus Freeman fella, the one drafted in 2009, he never played a regular NFL game. Got drafted, hopped around teams, but never got on the field for a real game. Heart trouble, that’s what they say. A shame, really. He probably coulda been a real good player, strong as he was. But some things just ain’t meant to be, I reckon. That other Marcus Freeman guy neither. Guess Marcus Freeman isn’t a household name in the NFL. Now, if you’re talkin’ about another Marcus Freeman, I don’t know him.
That’s the long and short of it. Hope that makes sense to ya. It ain’t always easy figurin’ out these things, especially with all these different fellas with the same name.
