Okay, so, I was trying to remember the last time Notre Dame played Georgia in football. It’s been bugging me for a while now, ’cause I’m a huge Notre Dame fan, you know? So, I started digging around to figure it out.
First, I hit up Google. Just typed in “Notre Dame vs Georgia football” and hoped for the best. The search results popped up a bunch of stuff, but it was kinda messy. Some articles, some stats, and a lot of noise about past games and players I didn’t really care about. It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, seriously.
Then, I stumbled upon this website called Winsipedia. It seemed pretty cool, all about football stats and history. I found some info there about the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish series. They had all these infographics and data, which was neat, but not exactly what I was looking for. I just wanted a simple answer, you know?

I kept scrolling through the search results and found a list of Notre Dame’s football season records. That was interesting, but again, not what I needed. I mean, it’s cool to know about the team’s history and all, but I just wanted to know when they last played Georgia!
Saw a mention somewhere that the state of Georgia has been growing like crazy. Not sure what that has to do with football, but okay. Oh, and something about Notre Dame playing Georgia Tech, but that’s not the same team, obviously.
Finally, after a lot of digging, I found it! The last time these two teams met was in 2019. Georgia won that game 23-17 in Athens. And before that, they played in 2017, another Georgia victory, 20-19. Turns out, Georgia actually has a 3-0 lead in the series. Bummer for Notre Dame, huh?
There was also something about a memorable Sugar Bowl game between them way back in 1981. Georgia won that one too, 17-10. They were the top-ranked team then. Seems like Georgia has had a lot of good seasons, 30 with 10 or more victories. That’s pretty impressive.
Here’s the gist of it:
- The last time Notre Dame and Georgia played was in 2019.
- Georgia won 23-17.
- Georgia also won in 2017, 20-19.
- Georgia leads the series 3-0.
- They had a famous Sugar Bowl game in 1981, which Georgia also won.
So yeah, that’s the story of how I figured out the last time Notre Dame played Georgia in football. It took some digging, but I finally got there. Go Irish, I guess, even though they haven’t had much luck against Georgia!
