Alright, so you wanna know about that car racin’ thing in Homestead, huh? Well, let me tell ya what I know. It ain’t always easy to keep track of these things, you know, what with all the chores and whatnot, but I hear things.
First off, they got this big race weekend coming up, a “tripleheader” they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it? That’s gonna be in March, from the 21st to the 23rd, in 2025. So, put that in your calendar, if you got one of them fancy phones or a paper one, whatever works.
Then there’s another race, a big one, a “playoff” race. That one’s set for October 27th, a Sunday. Starts at 2:30 in the afternoon, they say. That’s the one where they go round and round real fast at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. It’s called the “Straight Talk Wireless 400”. Don’t ask me why, probably some company thing, you know how they do.
This “Straight Talk Wireless 400” race, it’s a long one. They go around 267 times! Can you believe that? Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. And it’s like 400 miles, or 400 point somethin’ if you wanna be all exact. That’s a long way to drive, even if you ain’t goin’ in circles.
I heard tell that some fella named Tyler Reddick, he won that race last time. Beat out another fella, Ryan Blaney, right at the very end. Folks were real excited, I guess. These fellas drive real fast, I tell ya. Makes me nervous just watchin’ on the TV, all that speed and noise. But folks seem to like it.
Now, they been racin’ cars at that Homestead track for a good long while. Since 1999, I heard. That’s before some of you youngsters were even born! And this “Straight Talk Wireless 400” race, that’s the one they do there now.

But wait, there’s more! They got another big race, the “NASCAR Cup Series Championship”. That’s the real big one, the one at the end of the season. That one’s on November 10th, 2024, starts at 3:00 in the afternoon. So, if you wanna see the biggest race of them all, that’s the one to watch. They say it’s the final race, so I guess everyone tries real hard for that one.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about the racin’ in Homestead. March, October, and November. Three big races. Write it down, or get someone to write it down for ya, if you’re like me and your hands ain’t what they used to be. And if you go, you better wear somethin’ comfortable, ’cause sittin’ all day ain’t easy, I tell ya.
And don’t forget to bring some snacks! Them races can go on for a while, and you don’t want to get hungry. A sandwich and some fruit, that’s what I’d take. Maybe some lemonade too, if it’s hot. And a hat, gotta keep the sun outta your eyes, you know.
