Well, I’ll tell ya, figuring out how much them NASCAR truck drivers make ain’t as easy as pie. It’s kinda like guessin’ how many beans are in a jar – you can get close, but you ain’t never gonna know for sure unless you count ’em all yourself.
The Big Shots, Them Top Earners
Now, some of them fellers, the ones who win all the time and got their names plastered all over everything, they make a whole heap of money. We’re talkin’ maybe a million dollars a year, or even more! Can you believe that? More money than most folks see in a lifetime, just for drivin’ in circles real fast. I heard tell that the tippy-top drivers, the real famous ones, they can rake in even more than that, with all the sponsors and such. Must be nice to have your pockets that deep.

- But not everyone’s a big shot.
- Most drivers make less.
The Regular Joes, The Ones Just Gettin’ By
But then you got the other fellers, the ones who are just startin’ out, or maybe ain’t winnin’ every race. They still make a decent livin’, mind you, but it ain’t nothin’ like them big earners. I reckon most of them NASCAR truck drivers, they probably make somewhere between, say, forty thousand and fifty thousand dollars a year. That ain’t chicken feed, mind you, but it ain’t gonna make you a millionaire neither. It’s enough to put food on the table and keep a roof over your head, which is more than some folks got.
And then there’s the middle-of-the-roaders, the ones who ain’t famous but ain’t exactly new to the game either. They might make anywhere from a hundred thousand to half a million dollars a year. That’s a pretty big range, I know, but it all depends on how good they are, how many races they win, and who’s willin’ to sponsor ’em.
More Than Just the Paycheck
Now, don’t forget, that’s just the salary, the money they get for drivin’. There’s other ways them drivers make money too. They got sponsors, see? Companies pay ’em to put their logos on their trucks and their uniforms. And if they win a race, they get prize money. And sometimes they do commercials or appearances. So, it all adds up, you know?
Hourly Wages and Such

I also heard tell that some of them fellers, they get paid by the hour, not the year. Like, thirty-seven dollars and eighty cents an hour, somethin’ like that. That seems like a lot to me, but I guess it’s all relative, ain’t it? If you’re workin’ long hours and travelin’ all over the country, maybe that ain’t so much after all.
It Ain’t All About the Money, Though
But you know, I reckon most of them drivers, they ain’t just doin’ it for the money. They love racin’, pure and simple. It’s in their blood. They like the thrill of it, the competition, the speed. And that’s somethin’ you can’t put a price on. At least that’s what my grandson tells me, and he watches them races every Sunday. He says some drivers make like ten or thirteen million a year even! Land sakes, that’s a lot of money for playing around in trucks all day long.
So, How Much Do They Make? Well…
So, if you’re askin’ me how much a NASCAR truck driver makes, I’d say it’s anywhere from forty thousand to over a million dollars a year. It all just depends on who they are, how good they are, and how lucky they are. But one thing’s for sure, it ain’t easy work, and they earn every penny of it.
And that’s the long and short of it. Just like that old saying, some get chicken and some get the feathers, it’s all the same bird though ain’t it?
