Well, I’ll tell ya, this here Michigan 8-man football, it’s somethin’ else. Them boys, they run fast and hit hard, just like a bunch of young bulls in a pasture. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I like watchin’ ’em play. It’s excitin’, you know?
Now, this 2023 season, they got all these teams, like Adrian Lenawee Christian and Akron-Fairgrove. Heard they’re pretty good. And that Alcona team, they’re tough too. Ashley, Athens, Atlanta… So many names, hard to keep track, like tryin’ to count chickens in a coop when the door’s left open. But I reckon they all try their best.
They got this MHSAA thing, some kinda group that organizes all the games. They make these brackets, like a roadmap to see who plays who. It’s like a big ol’ puzzle, tryin’ to figure out who’s gonna win. Division 1, that’s the big boys, the real tough ones. They fight hard to get to the championships.
This 8-man football, it’s different than the regular kind. Fewer players, so the field seems bigger, and them boys gotta run a whole lot more. It’s fast-paced, ain’t much time to catch your breath. You blink, and you might miss a touchdown! It’s excitin’ for us old folks too, keeps us on the edge of our seats.
I heard tell there’s 21 schools playin’ this 8-man football this year. That’s a lot of boys, a lot of helmets and pads. Must be a sight to see all them teams lined up, ready to go. They play hard, them boys do. They give it their all, every game, just like they’re supposed to. It’s the right thing to do, you know? Work hard, play hard, that’s what I always say.

They got these playoff brackets, that’s how they figure out who’s the best. It’s like a ladder, you gotta climb your way to the top. Win a game, you move up. Lose a game, well, you go home and try again next year. That’s life ain’t it? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. You just gotta keep your head up and keep goin’.
This whole thing, it’s about more than just football, I reckon. It’s about teamwork, about learnin’ to work together to achieve somethin’. It’s about learnin’ to lose and win with grace. It’s about community, folks comin’ together to cheer on their boys. It warms an old woman’s heart to see it.
So, if you get a chance, go watch one of them games. It’s good clean fun, and them boys, they deserve the support. They work hard, and they play hard, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of. And who knows, you might even see the next big star, runnin’ and dodgin’ and throwin’ that football like it’s a golden egg. It’s a sight to see, let me tell ya!
Anyway, that’s my take on this Michigan 8-man football. Just an old woman’s thoughts, nothin’ fancy. But I tell you what, them boys got heart, and that’s what really matters.
