Well, well, today’s the day, and folks, a lotta people are askin’ about the crowd over at the NASCAR race. Now, y’see, NASCAR don’t go around tellin’ us how many folks show up to these races, but from what I hear, there’s always a mighty big turnout. Some say that last year they had between 150,000 to 175,000 people in the stands, and I reckon we might see the same this year. Folks love their NASCAR, that’s for sure.
Now, NASCAR’s been around a long time, but the crowds have been a bit smaller than what they used to be back in the day. If ya go back to the early 2000s, it wasn’t uncommon to see around 100,000 folks packin’ the place, but these days, it’s a little different. Still, when a race sells out, you know you’re gonna have a good show. I’ve heard that this year, a place like Pocono Raceway claimed to have their biggest crowd in over ten years. I’d say that’s a mighty fine thing for NASCAR, don’t ya think?
Now, some people might tell ya that the crowds have been fallin’ off a bit over the years. Maybe it’s the cost, maybe it’s just the way things go. But let me tell ya, the love for NASCAR ain’t gone anywhere. Folks still tune in, even if they ain’t always showin’ up in person. In fact, back in 2018, NASCAR was gettin’ about 3.34 million viewers on average, and while it dropped a little by 2023, it still shows folks are watchin’. Not bad for a sport that’s been around a while.

But, y’know, NASCAR don’t like to release those fancy attendance numbers. They say it’s not important, but we all know that a big crowd means excitement. When you look out at that sea of faces, hear the roar of the engines, and see folks jumpin’ outta their seats, you know that it’s a special thing. I don’t care if it’s 150,000 or 175,000, it’s a sight to behold.
Course, there’s been some races where things didn’t go so hot. Take that 2024 Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead. I heard there were some empty seats, and that don’t look good. NASCAR insiders weren’t too pleased about that. Empty seats just ain’t a good look when you’re puttin’ on a big show like this. It’s a real shame, too, ’cause NASCAR puts a lotta work into makin’ these events somethin’ special. You want people to come and feel the energy, not see all those gaps in the stands.
But here’s the thing – even with those empty seats sometimes, NASCAR still has a loyal fan base. They may not be packin’ every seat like they did years ago, but you still got folks out there who love this sport. And even though they don’t release no official numbers, you can bet there’s a whole lotta people out there followin’ these races from home or catchin’ ‘em on the big screen.
If you ever been to a NASCAR race, you know it’s somethin’ else. The engines roar, the crowd goes wild, and you get caught up in the excitement. Sure, there’s been ups and downs over the years, but NASCAR ain’t goin’ anywhere anytime soon. Whether it’s 150,000 or 175,000 folks in the stands, NASCAR races will always be a big deal to those who love it. And who knows, next year, you might just see even more folks showin’ up to cheer on their favorite drivers. Ain’t no tellin’, but it sure is fun to watch!
