Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure of drawing an NFL player. I’m no artist, mind you, but I figured, “Why not give it a shot?”
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed a pencil – just a regular old number 2, nothing fancy. And, of course, a sheet of paper. I didn’t bother with any special drawing paper; plain printer paper worked just fine for this experiment.
The Basic Shape
I started by sketching a very rough outline of the body. Think stick figure, but with slightly more bulk. I wanted to get the general proportions right – you know, big shoulders, strong legs, that sort of thing. NFL players are built like tanks, so I tried to capture that. No details yet, just the basic frame.

- Head: Just a circle.
- Body: A larger, rounded rectangle.
- Arms and Legs: Thick lines, making sure they looked powerful.
Adding Some Muscle (or Trying To)
Next, I started fleshing out the stick figure. I added some curves to those straight lines to suggest muscles. This was tricky! I looked at some pictures of NFL players online for reference, trying to see where the major muscle groups were. I mostly focused on the arms and legs, making them look thicker and more defined.
The Uniform
Now for the fun part – the uniform! I roughly sketched the helmet first, which is probably the most recognizable part. Then I added the shoulder pads, making them nice and wide. I drew the jersey and pants, keeping the lines simple. I didn’t get bogged down in too many details like logos or numbers yet.
The Face (or Lack Thereof)
Honestly, I struggled with the face. I decided to keep it pretty simple, since most of it would be hidden by the helmet anyway. I just drew a couple of basic eyes and a hint of a mouth. Let’s just say he’s a very focused player, not one for showing much emotion.
Adding Details
Once I had the basic figure and uniform down, I started adding some smaller details. I lightly sketched in the lines on the helmet, the stripes on the jersey, and maybe a hint of the player’s number. I also added some shading to give the drawing a bit more depth. I used my finger to smudge the pencil lines – a super sophisticated technique, I know.
The Finished Product (Sort Of)
And there you have it! My attempt at drawing an NFL player. It’s definitely not perfect, but it was a fun little exercise. It’s way harder than it looks! I have a new appreciation for artists who can capture the human form so well. I erased the lines I didn’t want and left the drawing as it is. Maybe I’ll try again sometime, but for now, I’m happy with my somewhat-muscular stick figure in a football uniform.
