Okay, so I’ve been wanting to catch the Notre Dame football games. I’m a huge fan, and missing out just wasn’t an option. I did some digging around to figure out the best way to watch them.
First, I noticed that after those first-round games on campus, they usually switch to the bowl sites for the quarterfinals. Seemed pretty standard. Then I saw that there was this big game coming up – Notre Dame vs. Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. This was it, the last quarterfinal game of the 2024 season, no way was I missing this!
So, here’s what I found out. The game was scheduled for Wednesday, January 1st, at 4 p.m. ET. It was going down at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

How to watch it for free (well, almost)
- Free trials, baby! I figured I could try out either DirecTV Stream or Hulu + Live TV. They usually have free trials, which is perfect for a one-time thing like this.
Other options I considered
- ESPN+: Turns out, the Sugar Bowl featuring our Fighting Irish and the Georgia Bulldogs was streaming on ESPN+ at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 2, 2025. I could just grab the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Easy peasy.
- NFL+: This was another app I could get from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Seemed like a solid backup.
I also found out that Notre Dame’s home games are usually at Notre Dame Stadium, which apparently fits over 77,000 people! That’s massive. And guess what? All their home games are streamed live on Peacock. That was another possibility to watch the game.
So, yeah, that’s how I went about figuring out how to watch the Notre Dame games. It wasn’t too tough once I started looking. Now, I’m all set to cheer on the Fighting Irish! Go Irish!
