Alright, so you wanna know about that car racin’ thing on Sunday, the NASCAR, right? I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the store. Lemme tell ya what I know, or what I heard anyways.
First off, they got these races all over the place, see? Sometimes they’re in this place called Phoenix, in Arizona, hot as blazes I bet. They got one there, and I think those fellers start racin’ around 3 o’clock in the afternoon. That’s what I heard, mind you.
Then there’s this other race, down in Darlington. Now, that one, they start a bit later, like 6 o’clock in the evenin’. Makes sense, I guess, bein’ so hot down south. They like racin’ in the evenin’, keeps them drivers a little cooler I reckon.

And don’t forget about Kansas! Yep, they got a race there too, the Hollywood Casino 400 they call it. Fancy name, huh? That one, they start around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, just like that Phoenix one. They got all these different places, it’s hard to keep track, I tell ya.
- Phoenix: 3:00 PM (Eastern Time, they say. Fancy talk for city folks’ time.)
- Darlington: 6:00 PM (Eastern Time, again.)
- Kansas: 3:00 PM (You guessed it, Eastern Time!)
Now, about that racin’ track in Kansas. It’s a big ol’ circle, 1.5 miles around. Them fellers go around and around, 267 times! Can you imagine? Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. They break it up into pieces, though. Stage 1, then Stage 2, like that. Gives them drivers a chance to catch their breath, I suppose. Or maybe fix their cars, I dunno. I ain’t no mechanic.
Oh, and there’s this other place, Watkins Glen. They race there too, I think. Start time is 3 o’clock, just like some of the others. See? It’s all a bit confusing. Too many races in too many places, if you ask me. But folks seem to like it, so who am I to judge?
Now, watchin’ it on TV. That’s the tricky part. Seems like they change the channels all the time. Keeps folks on their toes, I guess. One feller told me you could watch it on somethin’ called USA Network, channel 242 if you got that DIRECTV thing. And then there’s this “Peacock” thing, where you can watch it live, but I ain’t got no idea how that works. Too much newfangled technology for this old gal. All this talk about streaming and whatnot. Give me a good ol’ radio any day!
Anyways, if you really wanna know for sure, you might have to look it up in that newspaper or on that internet thing. I just hear things, ya know? Down at the store, or from the neighbors. But that’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell. They race in different places, different times, and on different channels. Just gotta keep your ears open and your eyes peeled, I reckon.
And one more thing, these races, they ain’t short. They go on for a good long while, hours sometimes. So, if you’re plannin’ on watchin’, make sure you got plenty of snacks and somethin’ comfy to sit on. You’ll be there a while.
