So, you know, them big fights sure bring in a lot of money, don’t they? Just like that big one between Devin Haney and Regis Prograis. Folks been talkin’ about it a lot. Now, if you don’t know, PPV buys are what they call pay-per-view buys, where people pay a little (or a lot!) to watch the fight from their homes. This here fight, Haney vs Prograis, done had itself a pretty big turnout on them PPV buys, and I’ll tell ya, that makes the folks involved a lot of money.
Now, let’s break it down, sugar. When Devin Haney fought that Garcia fella, they had a big ol’ number of PPV buys. Word is, they reached somewhere between 400 to 500 thousand buys. That’s a whole lotta folks sittin’ down to watch that fight! But here’s the thing, that’s a lot more than what Gervonta Davis made when he fought Frank Martin, ‘cause Davis’ fight only pulled in about 325 to 350 thousand buys. So you can see right there, Haney’s fight with Garcia done better than Davis’, at least when it comes to folks paying to watch it!
Now, as for the pay, oh honey, them boxers don’t just get by on a couple of pennies. You hear me? Regis Prograis, when he fought, say against Danielito Zorrilla in June 2023, he walked away with a cool million dollars just for showin’ up in the ring! But that ain’t all, no sir. He also got himself a share of that pay-per-view revenue, which pushed his total up to about $2 million. Can you imagine? A couple million dollars just to throw a few punches!

But hold on now, it ain’t all about Prograis. You gotta talk about Haney too. Haney, that young fella, he’s been makin’ bank too. He pulled in $4 million from his big unification bout with Vasiliy Lomachenko. And don’t forget, he also got a piece of the PPV pie, so that’s even more money in his pocket. When he fought George Kambosos Jr., he earned about $2.8 million, plus 30% of the PPV shares. Ain’t that somethin’?
Now, we all know Haney took a loss when he fought Garcia, but even though he got knocked down a few times, he didn’t do too bad. Word is, Haney still walked away with $35 million from that fight. That’s a lotta money, ain’t it? And, he also got himself $1.5 million from Garcia. Ain’t too shabby for a loss, right?
But you know, as much as folks been talkin’ about all this money, what really got everyone buzzin’ was the PPV buys for the Haney vs Prograis match. I reckon it done done better than anyone expected. They say it’s gonna do more PPV buys than Haney’s last fight. And what’s the price for watchin’ all this action, you ask? Well, if you’re a DAZN subscriber, you only gotta pay $59.99 to catch the fight. Not too bad for a night of boxing, huh?
Now, if you want my opinion, the fight itself was a real treat to watch. Haney showed that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the ring. Some folks even say he dominated Prograis with a shutout, 120-107 on all three judges’ cards. That’s pretty impressive, don’t you think? But when it comes to them PPV buys, well, it looks like this fight’s gonna be a big one for them boxers and promoters, too.
In the end, whether it’s Haney or Prograis, one thing’s for sure: boxing’s still bringin’ in the big bucks, and folks sure do love to watch them fights. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next one’s even bigger!
