How to install USB Drivers for NEC phones.
Before you buy the cable or the unlock solution etc please make sure that your phone is not software version 22 as we cannot unlock them at the moment. To do this turn on the phone and press *#06#. This will display the phones imei number and the software version. Anything other than SV22 is ok.
Firstly you need a modified usb cable if you plan to either flash or unlock the phone.
You also need to download the usb drivers and the nec logger
Secondly you need to remove the battery from the phone then connect the cable to the computer and then connect the cable to the phone.
The hardware wizard will show up like below. At this point you should check the "Include this location in the search" and point it to the location where you downloaded the usb drivers.

When the box below appears you should click "Continue Anyway"

The box below will appear, simply click "Finish"

After a few seconds the hardware wizard will re-open. Click "Next"

Using the same location as last time, like below click next.

And again click "Continue Anyway"

Now the second part of the drivers installation will be complete. Again click "Finish"

After a few more seconds the hardware wizard will re-appear. Click "Next"

Browse again to the folder containing the NEC Drivers and click "Next"

Again click "Continue Anyway"
And finally :) Click "Finish"

Now the usb drivers are installed.
After installing the NEC Drivers (Please do not attempt this step before installing the drivers as it wont work) you need to open the control panel.
Using XP, to do this you need to go to the Start Menu and you should see the control panel link.
After clicking that link you will be shown a list of icons like the ones below. You need to double click the one called "System "
Once the system folder is open you need to click on the tab that says "Hardware" then click on "Device Manager"

Once in the device manager tab you need to go down to "Ports (Com & LPT)" and inside there you should see "NEC 616 USB IPL Port (Com x)" (NB It doesnt matter which number replaces the x ). Double click on this.

Once the properties window has opened you need to click on port settings. Now make a note of all the data in this window because you will need it shortly,
Ie for this example below (It doesnt matter if yours is different to the one below)
Bits per second : 19200
Data bits : 8
Parity : None
Stop Bits : 1
Flow Control : None

Now click ok and you can close down the control panel windows.
You can now go onto the code reading section.
Ok so you have installed the drivers and collected the information from the control panel. Now you are ready to continue and unlock your phone. (If you haven't completed the above two steps then please go back and do them before attempting the next step as it will not work without completing the first two steps)
After opening the logger program you will see from the image below that there are a few options.
Firstly select your phone model from the "Type" Box.
Secondly make sure the "Automatic / Manual" box is unchecked, ignore the "Port" box.
Right now the phone should be connected to the usb cable. The battery should not be on the phone.
Click on "MAKE LOG"

As you will see below, for our example we have used an NEC E616 (The x can represent any letter, ie E or C)
You can also see that the logger is requesting the settings we got from the control panel. Please fill these in, including the "Port" setting which was shown in the control panel "System" window.

The image below shows it with our settings filled in

At this point the logger will turn to connecting to the phone, you shoul press the on button the phone at this point. (Don't expect the phone to turn on because it won't)

After a minute or two the software will ask that you disconnect the phone from the cable. Do this and press "OK"

Now a box will appear asking you to enter the IMEI number of the phone. You can get this either from the box, or from the sticker on the back of the phone just underneath the bar code. You can also get it by turning the phone on and press *#06#

After this your log will be ready to be sent away to have your unlock codes calculated.
Please do not email us a log unless you have purchase one as it will waste our time and yours because we do keep records of who has ordered.
When we receive the logs we will generate your unlock code and email it over to you with instructions for entering the code into your phone. |
